Injured Neymar Races to Recovery for World Cup 2018

The 26-year-old forward for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Neymar has been announced to miss more playing time in the upcoming world cup due to the slow recovery from his injury in the Marseille game. Three months into the world cup games is how long the football player will miss in order to fully recover his leg.

This piece of news has broken while Neymar arrived in Rio for his operation. The player was spotted at Rio’s airport in a wheelchair after his flight from Paris prior to the medical procedures.

The former Barcelona frontman was tracking back behind Bouna Sarr in the second half of the match where he twisted his right ankle, which left him pleading in pain in the middle of the field. The player chose to go through foot surgery rather than going through an arduous process of self-healing, with the hope that it will help him get his proper fitness back just in time for the World Cup.

The expected duration of his time off the field was two months. The team doctor has finally confirmed that the player will miss an extra month off. This was just fitting since the Brazilian player who literally fell in tears and was dragged off on a stretcher with a massive sprain and a fractured metatarsal in the last Marseille game.

According to the team’s medical personnel, PSG and the Brazil national team have both agreed to extend Neymar’s recovery period even after completing the initial three-day treatment and medical protocol. Neymar’s surgery will be led by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar accompanied by Professor Saillant, representing PSG.
