Ernesto Valverde Will Not Get in the Way of Selling Ivan Rakitic if Barcelona Gets a Good Deal Prior to Transfer Deadline

Croatia’s finest footballer Ivan Rakitic has exhibited some promising feedback from Barcelona’s manager, Ernesto Valverde and has been quite selfish with the 31-year-old. Valverde has been blocking all deals with regards to Rakitic in the last few months in fear of losing an asset to the Spanish team.

However, Barcelona’s manager did decide to bow out of the transfer proceedings with the Croatian and will be accepting potential sales if the club receives a fair offer prior to the transfer deadline on Monday. The central attacking midfielder has not been featured in a line-up for the opening 2 La Liga games this past season.

His contract with Nou Camp is set to expire come 2021 but is given permission to leave should Barcelona receive a fair offer from another club. Rakitic has been rumored to a swap deal which includes Emre Can, a promising midfielder from Juventus.

In an interview with Marca last July, the player mentioned, “I talked to the club and the Coach and the idea is the same, and my idea is to continue with Barça, I’m open, but my idea is very clear and my intention is to continue here and continue enjoying because being here because I have more years left on my contract.” Although, talk of an exit has turned into something more unexpected for the footballer and looks like he is just going to stay back for a while at Barcelona.
