Awards night took place Thursday evening at the Olympia London club with several celebrities, coaching staff, Chelsea footballers and fans present to revel in the team’s achievements. The night began with guests arriving dressed to impress on the red carpet. David Luiz, one of Chelsea’s first-team players was first to get his photo taken. Aside from first-team players, the Chelsea Ladies team and the Under 18s made their respective appearances.
Chelsea’s French midfielder, N’Golo Kante dubbed Chelsea’s Player of the Year. Despite the team’s unsatisfactory overall performance this past season, the 27-year-old received a well-deserved recognition for soldiering through the season.
The ladies team posed for pictures with their FA Cup, with Fran Kirby winning Ladies Player of the Year. The well-deserved trophy was bestowed to the 24-year-old for leading the ladies team throughout the campaign.
Young Player of the Year was given to Andreas Christensen after his impeccable fit into the Chelsea back line in place of John Terry. Willian Borges de Silva took home two trophies for Players’ Player of the Year which was derived from his teammate’s votes and Goal of the Season for his incredible goal against Brighton.
