Everton’s Marco Silva Eager to Keep Young Ademola Lookman

Marco Silva, the renowned manager of Everton has been fighting tooth and nail to retain his 20-year-old player despite other clubs like RB Leipzig’s keen interest on the football player. “He is our player. You know what my technical opinion of the player is and the player knows. For me, it is not an issue.” Silva adds.

Lookman was on loan with the Bundesliga club during the second half of last season. Bundesliga has made two bids on the African native but has been turned down twice. The Everton forward has started this season strong by qualifying to join the matchday squad for the first time.

Despite such, the player did not get on the pitch for Saturday’s win against Southampton. Lookman has been on loan since January with RB Leipzig with five goals and four assists in eleven superb appearances.

Since making a switch from Charlton in January 2017, the 20-year-old has scored thrice in 24 games for Everton. As for his place in the World Cup last year, Lookman was part of the squad that was capped by England at U21 level.

Silva also expressed in a statement saying “I understand some clubs are interested in him but at the end I told you last week, I told you two weeks ago, (in) my opinion he is the present and the future of the club and we have to try to convince him to go in this way as well.”
