Yerry Mina Disappoints FA and is Fined £10,000 for Violating Conduct & Rules

It’s no surprise that it is a legal requirement that good performance and conduct must be maintained when working as a professional sportsman. Much so in the sport of football, but unfortunately, not everyone is aware of what is and what is not allowed or tolerated under the rules of the Football Association. It’s been reported that 24-year-old center back for Everton, Yerry Mina has violated some terms in his contract and rules stated under the Football Association’s handbook.

The 24-year-old Colombian footballer was fined £10,000 for starring in a Colombian betting advertisement. The formal statement by the FA revealed, “Yerry Mina has been warned as to his future conduct and fined £10,000 after admitting a misconduct charge in relation to the FA’s betting rules. The Everton FC defender breached FA Rule E8(3) by participating in an advertisement for betting activity which he is prohibited from engaging in.”

This was a charge that was waiting to come since its release back in July, where the Colombian ad was promoting a betting company called Betjuego in his country. This merited more than just a warning and has brought forth a rocky road towards a sustained future at Everton. Mina is currently on international duty with Colombia who will be going head to head against Venezuela come Wednesday. He will return to Bournemouth come Sunday, along with his Everton teammates for their Premier League duty.
