Vietnam Brings Home a 2-0 Victory against Malaysia in AFF Suzuki Cup

Friday was quite a day for Vietnam football who defeated Malaysia 2-0 in Hanoi. This match was Vietnam’s second win in the cup which was thanks to Nguyen Cong Phuong and Nguyen Ahn Duc.

The first half of the match was contained by Tan Cheng Hoe’s team who made 60% of the possession Vietnam’s. Although, the second half of the game was dominated by the Malays who did struggle to pierce through the Red’s defense.

The crowds at My Dinh National Stadium were alive and well, filled with many Vietnamese fans, as well as Malaysian fans in attendance. They showed utmost support towards both teams creating a great atmosphere for sports and football at the Suzuki Cup.

It is safe to say though that the loudest roars were coming from the Vietnamese fans right when Doan Van Hau who maneuvered the ball towards Cong Phuong who made two remarkable goals.

Malaysia’s 21-year-old Safawi Rasid was introduced prior to the half-hour mark that came in to take a free kick right outside the 18-yard box. A successful feat wherein he forced a five-save from Dong Van Lam.

With Myanmar placing first in Group A based on their goal scores. Vietnam’s efforts come to par as they find themselves place second. The two go head to head on Saturday, November 24 to see who will top the group altogether.
