The 28-year-old center back, Joel Matip will be gracing Liverpool with another contract extension for one more year. This year-long extension is triggered by the Champions League holders which had manager Jurgen Klopp believe that there’s very much a need to secure Liverpool’s star player after a series of impressive performances. Matip will be staying with Klopp at Anfield until 2021 according to The Athletic.
The Cameroonian player came to Liverpool on a free transfer from Schalke, a German football club three years ago, where he was initially given a 4-year contract. This has come to a change where the contract will expire by the end of the current season, which brings Liverpool to the contract extension to keep the star player in Merseyside.
