Lionel Messi Reveals Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola Regarding Midfielder Sergio Busquets

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi have been in touch and have quite something to talk about. Topic of discussion was Barcelona’s midfielder Sergio Busquets who Messi reveals is quite the talent with just after two training sessions.

It’s been 10 years since the 30-year-old started for La Liga for the Catalan side. His performance and level of playing dynamic definitely placed him in Lionel Messi’s radar. Speaking to Universo Valdano, Guardiola reveals “I remember what Messi told me.

‘After two or three days of training with him, he came to me and said, “I like this one.” And I said, “when there is trouble, he will be there.’

Busquets is now on his tenth year with Barca and has established his role in the team and in the football industry. Barcelona has enabled Busquets to reach his full potential, while winning the Spanish league title and the Champions League title, seven times and three times respectively.

Guardiola’s contract is set to expire in 2021, but has expressed his intentions to go back to the youth set-ups preferably at Barcelona before retiring. Aside from this end goal, he also considers the option of being a sporting director. Regardless, the 47-year-old has nothing set in stone, there is still time to see where the Manchester City coach will end up in a few years.
