Ligue 1’s Promising 18-Year-Old William Saliba in the Center of United and Arsenal’s Gaze

Saint Etienne’s defender young and talented defender, 18-year-old Saliba is torn between Arsenal and Manchester United who has expressed interest on the footballer. Saliba has had quite the remarkable breakthrough in the last season with 19 appearances in all competitions. Since his stellar performance, Unai Emery’s team has been very keen on tracking the teenager’s progress and has been explicit with putting in an offer.

United’s been reportedly in pole position to sign the 18-year-old, however, as per his agent’s estimation, Saliba is leaning towards Arsenal more according to Le 10 Sport. Arsenal has been in negotiations with Saliba for a while now and is a step away from signing the teenager in the next few weeks. Saint-Etienne has made it clear that they demand a £25 million for the center-back, which extends to other teams aside from United and Arsenal. It’s also been said that aside from United and Arsenal showing interest, Watford and Southampton are also interested in the star footballer.

When asked about Saliba’s potential, former Arsenal defender Lauren Bisan-Etame-Mayer, popularly known by his moniker, Lauren has only admiration for the young Ligue 1 player’s skills. “He reads the game very well, which is important for a player at the back, you have to anticipate and he looks very good at just 18, so the future is bright!” Lauren says.
