Iran Boasts Team’s Togetherness Ahead of Japan Semifinal Match

In the hopes of winning the AFC Asian Cup after 43 years, Iran seems to be nearing the possibility, defeating China PR 3-0 in the quarterfinals. The 25-year-old Iranian winger, Alireza Jahanbakhsh boasts that the key to their team’s success is their strong sense of togetherness. In the effort to get ready for Monday’s semi-final match against Japan, the Iran team was dubbed one of the favorites for the most sought after title in the cup.

Many people have been rooting for the team even before the cup started with even higher expectations for Coach Carlos Quieroz’ team. “As our coach always says, we do everything as a team. We don’t have stars. These are the reasons we have a better team and hopefully, we can go further. Japan is a very good side, we have to get ready for the next game but hopefully, we can make history” according to Jahanbakhsh.

Jahanbakhsh has sat out of playing in the field since early November due to a hamstring injury he concurred during Brighton’s defeat from Everton. The 26-year-old footballer came back to play in Iran’s final group game against Iraq, where the player scored in their 2-0 victory over Oman in the Round of 16.
