Syahmi Safari Plausibly Up for Puskas Award

Muhammad Syahmi bin Safari executed the 28th-minute move brought the crowds at the Rajamangala Stadium in a great applause with his remarkable passing move, initiated by Farizal Marlias. This brilliant performance led the Harimau Malaya in a tie against the War Elephants at 1-1 during the second leg of the semifinal match.

The final of the Suzuki Cup brought Thailand and Malaysia in a 2-2 draw as the end result of the semi-final. Vietnam has yet to see what this team can do in the final leg of the Suzuki Cup 2018 come December 11 and 15.

Football Association of Malaysia is in deliberation whether or not the Puskas Award is to be presented to Syahmi Safari for his head-turning move in the game. Speaking with the FAM President Hamidin Mohd Amin regarding the plausible nomination, he said: “It’s a good goal, but I will discuss with the FAM technical committee to see whether the goal is eligible to be nominated for the Puskas Award.”

Malaysia is not a stranger to FIFA with their very own Mohd Faiz Subri of Penang FA who won the prestigious award two years ago in 2016. The phenomenal striker move against Pahang in the 2016 Malaysia Super League gave Subri a chance at the award, just in line with Lionel Messi for Argentina and Neymar Jr, for Barcelona.
